Flavor Comes First:

Healthy Meals That Taste Delicious

Come join my online Craftsy class, Flavor Comes First: Healthy Meals That Taste Delicious!

Throughout these video lessons, I’ll give you simple strategies and recipes to make healthy cooking an easy, joyful part of your life — and one that propels you on a path of wellness. I’m happy to be teaching you on Craftsy, because you’ll be able to ask me questions and share your successes (and challenges) every step of the way!

The class covers the essential tools for better cooking and eating:

First I’ll explain my tried-and-true food philosophy of “Usually/Sometimes/ Rarely,” and show you how to put this plan into action with smart, one-skillet dinners —Ancho-rubbed Chicken with warm Corn, Tomato and Zucchini Salad and Chicken Piccata.

I’ll introduce my “Hunger Continuum” next —a handy tool for managing portions more intuitively and eating more mindfully. Then I’ll show you some ultra-satisfying soup recipes– Autumn Vegetable Soup and Creamy Zucchini Soup.

In this lesson, I’ll share ways to boost flavor healthfully with herbs, spices and aromatics. I’ll talk about essential herb pairings, show you how to make Cauliflower Tabbouleh, and whip up a Fresh Cherry Tomato and Toasted Garlic Penne that will have everyone calling for seconds.

I’ll show you how to stock your pantry with healthier fats next. Plus we’ll make a Dijon Vinaigrette you’ll want to drizzle over everything in sight. I’ll also share a recipe for a rich green goddess dressing that’s loaded with nutrients and fiber.

Unsure at the fish counter? You won’t be after this lesson. I’ll walk you through the essentials of buying fish. And I’ll whip up my no-fail recipe for your easiest salmon ever. We’ll also make bread crumb-topped fillets that deliver a satisfying crunch in a healthy way. And I’ll share my secret weapon for on-demand entertaining — Italian Fisherman’s Stew.

In our last lesson, you’ll learn how to get more nutritious whole grains into your life, discover my grain freeze method for convenient whole foods, and whip up easy, weeknight dinners, from Quinoa Pilaf to Herbed Farro salad.

Here’s What Others Have To Say:

Great Class!  stars

What drew me to this class was Ellie Krieger, she looked so amazingly healthy that I had to know the kind of food she ate. I loved her style of teaching and the recipes had my mouth watering. This was a very informative class and I would recommend it to anyone wanting to add more healthy whole foods to their diet.

Excellent Class and Great Instructor!  stars

Really a good class, with lots of interesting things to learn. The section about herbs alone is worth the price of the class, and the emphasis on taste is very important: we all want to eat healthy but if it tastes really bland or unappetizing we are not going to stick to it. While the recipes that she gives are all very appealing, and can give you inspiration for many more. Be aware though that while most dishes can easily be adapted for vegetarians, this is not a vegetarian class. I understand this, as many people out there think you cannot eat delicious meals without meat, but health wise, we really should all cut down on meat, since even “lean meat” is just not all that healthy at the end of the day. So on the deliciousness front, you cannot go wrong with this class. On the healthy front, I personally would have put even chicken on the “use rarely” category as it really has little other than its leanness to recommend itself. A tofu/tempeh/seitan recipe would have made this class a “five star+”, but I do give it five stars happily.
