Nik started out as a molecular biologist and public health policy, and eventually quit to pursue his passion for cooking. He worked as a pastry chef in California and later become the food columnist at the San Francisco Chronicle. Both his cookbooks, The Flavor Equation and Season have been finalists for numerous awards and translated into multiple languages across the world.
